Many of these tips are trivial and known by those who have an average level of knowledge about SEO, but that does not diminish the value of the item. For example:

Only the first link account. If you link to one URL several times in a document, it appears that the first link is the one with more weight.
nofollow links if they are important but have less weight. Many people's worst despise the truth is that a nofollow link is useful, but obviously it is less than a dofollow link. It is recommended to link to articles to increase the amount of incoming links.

Advertising on Twitter, and what users think

vendredi 23 avril 2010

Finally, advertising has come to Twitter so "official" as from yesterday, have begun to show in the form of sponsored ads Tweets that have been paid by companies like Virgin America. After more than three years, this site has been transformed into a platform for real-time information will begin to monetize the content.

After enjoying a site without ads for a long time, it's time to see sponsorships, but has ensured that they are as annoying as possible. After the launch of the marketing of Twitter, some regular users have begun to say in the matter. According to data from Crimson Hexagon, interestingly 42% of users consider advertising as spam / upset and they want off-site, is a very large percentage of users who disagree, and perhaps the group of users have more activity or considered loyal users.

On the other hand 31% of the twitters regard this announcement as an interesting move, but would like to see more before accepting its operation completely. And if Twitter is able to integrate advertising without annoying users, will be a major step in the monetization of the site and to keep users happy at the same time. It is a difficult course.

Only 27% of the population believes that Twitter tweets are sponsored sensible business model, which does not greatly affect the common user activity and therefore have given their approval.

Now it remains to see if the tweets are sent via API-sponsored as well, since many people (myself included) use Twitter from third party applications (clients, either desktop or mobile platforms). While analyzing the possibilities, it is likely that third-party programs are free of advertising, at least at first.

mercredi 21 avril 2010

tweetup is a new startup that focuses on marketing and advertising on Twitter. In fact the idea is more complex and goes beyond display ads as there is only a strategy to monetize sites that appear in a sort of timeline. In simple words, tweetup is a search engine for Twitter that integrates AdWords advertising style.

Basically way for advertisers to bid for a spot in the search results. Each time you search for tweets with certain keywords, some messages tweetup sponsored show at the top, as if any message. With the help of an algorithm will determine the relevance of a tweet to establish what appears so high in the results pages, which help maintain the relevance of the information to be displayed in this little form. These ideas were implemented by Google to make lots of money, let's see if it works the same concept applied to Twitter.

Advertisers will have 3 options for bids: impressions, for each new follower is achieved and per click. At first, advertisers bid for print only be priced at $ 0.01 USD / printing; to encourage initial investment tweetup giving $ 100 USD to the first 1000 advertisers in starting a campaign.

This is a good idea, and we may be facing a new business opportunity in Twitter, which already has a user base of several million.

Indeed, this mechanism results in a search engine to sell was implemented by GoTo, idealab a startup of who are the same as those behind the project of tweetup, so no experience in between.

Tumblr suggests premium templates, his new way of making money

mercredi 31 mars 2010

Tumblr has begun to suggest to their users to use themes of payment from your blogs administration area.

Tumblr is a microblogging platform free most known and used, not to mention the most known and used worldwide, after Twitter. Its ease of use and ease of customization have become famous among fans of quick, short post.

Until now, when acceding to the administration area to customize our Tumblr blog on the tab called "Theme" we suggest the latest free templates uploaded for users to be shared.

But what was my surprise today, when access to the same section, I found that, before displaying the latest list of free templates updated, Tumblr showed me the list and screenshot of the last 13 payment templates.

Among the prices of these templates are for all budgets, ranging from $ 9, about 7 € to 49 $ that would become the change about 37 € but I say that if you register on a free service is for microbloggin pay nothing, if not you'd have a blog with hosting and domain fee, right?

That is as it seems, Tumblr expects to earn money to finance their microblogging platform, though this is the second option since a few days ago and announced they were going to launch
payment service for premium users.

Dot-com domain marks 25th anniversary

mardi 16 mars 2010

It's amazing how fast time flies. Just 25 years ago recorded the first domain. Com by company Symbolics Computers, located in the city of Cambridge in Massachusetts, USA. A March 15, 1985, there was symbolics.com registration, but also four other domains were also recorded: BBN.com, Think.com, and MCC.com DEC.com. Later in November of that year recorded in an act Northrop.com mark the beginning of the business of domainers. No one imagined then that domain names represent a lucrative market a few years later. After the first record there was an enormous growth, as companies began to get interested in something that was in its infancy, the Internet.

After 25 years we are in a market with millions of registered domain names, with multiple endings and a tremendous boom as it is relatively easy to have a proper domain name. With the addition of new TLDs it ensures that this growth to remain active, as each day exploring new ways to have a presence on the network with a domain. Symbolics.com Currently, the first domain in recorded history has been turned into a blog showing hundreds of links to affiliate programs on the purchase and sale of domains. A sadness that a piece of Internet history has turned over a pile of links that provide little or no visitors who come to learn more about the origin of domain names.

Bloggerwave returns scheme sponsored posts to the blogosphere

lundi 15 mars 2010

3 years ago was very popular meet enterprises engaged in contacting bloggers with advertisers so that they write posts (reviews) on certain products or services. In fact this model was very popular and many people were enrolled in this type of site where sometimes there were good payments. That yes, influential blog required to be at least considered. And so it worked then. The problem came when bloggers published some positive comments about a product when it was really poor quality. The lack of honesty sparked much controversy, especially when it comes to these markets where they sell and buy sponsored posts.

Bloggerwave is precisely this style a site where anyone can register a blog to make money. Once an account is created and approved by an administrator, you enter a market where advertisers choose manually the sites where they want to advertise.

Once you have selected (on) a blogger, this (a) must write a post with the conditions specified. The information provided by the page is very clear and it is said that honesty should prevail above all, if someone does not like something, I must say as it is, without guile.

At first you may not have many advertisers and, worse, the few that there will be interested in the American public, which leaves little scope to compete. Anyway, it's interesting to see the revival of business models that were successful in the past, see if there comes a second wind of such sites.

DoLoop, tool to analyze various aspects of a website

dimanche 31 janvier 2010

DoLoop is a tool that allows you to analyze a web site, investigating factors such as web traffic, technical aspects, levels of popularity in social networks, a brief primer on SEO, domain information and a little more. You should only enter the site URL to be tested and after a few seconds of waiting, the results are displayed in different panels, grouping the information by relevant categories. The first thing shown is a thumbnail with a screenshot of the site, the title and link to the page and the description in the search engines. Then you can see a panel with the tags and most important keywords on the cover, arranged in a visually striking, allowing to quickly find the topic of the page.

Then there is a traffic section showing ranks of companies to measure traffic like Alexa, Compete and Quantcast. Underneath is the domain information, eg how many characters the domain, the age of it if it is a word in the dictionary (English language only) and if the domain contains hyphens or numbers.
With regard to SEO, the information displayed is: Google PageRank, number of backlinks according to Yahoo, the number of pages indexed in Google, if you have meta tags in the section of the document, and whether the site is on the DMOZ directory or not. There is a great report, much less, but indicative of how I think a good tool.

At the end you will see graphs showing the performance of the site, mostly focused on visits. There is also a rough estimate of the value of the site, which can be placed in Widget form anywhere, and it is standard HTML .

Google introduces a new algorithm to answer questions by searching

If there is anything we grant to Google, is its ability to improve and innovate in the field of search, which is the best sector in which they develop. The traditional paradigm of Internet search says that users are listed with links to pages related to your query. It is the job of the user to search and review the content of each page to find what you are looking for, however this is about to change. Through a very complex algorithm (no further details, typical of the Californian company) seeks life even easier for users of the browser. The idea is to provide concrete answers instead of just links to relevant pages. It's more like an answering of questions that a search engine: an interesting concept that will surely have wide acceptance.

From the standpoint of SEO, it will be interesting to see how this concept develops, it will be possible to develop sites that provide answers to the people instead of writing information with their respective onpage optimization as is done until today
