10% of computers worldwide already have Windows 7

vendredi 7 mai 2010

Microsoft is taking huge advantage in the market for operating systems. Although alternatives such as Linux or Mac OS X users have gained more recent times, Windows is still king, by far. Surprising news comes from Microsoft, it is reported to have sold over 100 million licenses of Windows 7 around the world. That is an impressive figure as it represents around 10% of all computers on the planet with Windows 7 as the primary operating system. And in the end things have gone well for Microsoft Windows Vista who saw a flop but which were good things served to make way for the successor to Windows XP, at least in popularity.

After six months of launching Windows 7 (launched on October 22, 2009), Microsoft has made a profit close to 14 billion dollars ($ 14.000 million) recorded until March 31, 2010 which is no doubt a successful product after several slips that left many angry users.

Microsoft still can do many things well, and has been demonstrated. Regardless of the fans and haters of Windows, the shareholders of the company based in the state of Washington must be more than happy.

Internet Explorer 9 could have a minimalist interface

mardi 6 avril 2010

Despite being the most hated browser, Internet Explorer continues to evolve, and this time is for good. After last month launched an alpha version of this product (to show it to developers), it appears that the browser development team is still very active, and this time the most radical changes have been made in the GUI / interface (UI). Through a Chinese forum, these images were obtained of the possible interface of Internet Explorer 9. While not from a 100% reliable source (you have to doubt the veracity of these images), the truth is that it is a good concept to be taken into account, as it would be taking a big step for what as minimalist and usable, which benefits us.

Although this model lacks the distinctive features of Windows (such as the Aero interface), the design is not so far from reality as it follows more or less along the lines of Windows Phone 7, one of the products that Microsoft have priority . Images are real or not, we face the possibility of finding an Internet Explorer battle they can get the market to favorites (Firefox, Chrome), not only in appearance but also in
performance.

Remember that it is too premature IE9 current version, so all the features and changes we see may not be part of the final product, but as a concept illustration, I consider a good start.

Windows 7: more than 90 million licences sold

jeudi 4 mars 2010

Windows 7 represents a turning point in modern history of Windows: dragging criticism generated by his predecessor, Windows Vista, Microsoft made a huge effort to produce a version of its operating system, which again was liked by users, many of them, customers of many years of the Redmond company. And although it was doubted that Windows 7 could straighten the road, this product has proven to be good.

Since its launch in October 2009, Microsoft has sold 90 million licenses of Windows 7 worldwide, which is more than gratifying, considering that even in the market there are many computers that have Windows XP as the primary OS that represent a strong competition with other Microsoft products like Windows Vista.

Not only is the number of licenses, but the attitude of many people to this new version of Windows. According to a company spokesman, Brandon LeBlanc, Windows 7 has been the fastest operating system has been sold in Microsoft's history, which shows the pleasure and acceptance of many people, he hoped that Windows 7 would be so good as we were told it would be.

It seems to me that Windows 7 is a stable and much improved version of what is seen in addition to being fast, is very pleasing to the eye, and go that has enhanced the experience of user interfaces easier to use.

Yahoo does not want to lag behind in innovation and adoption of new elements to the search engines. Now it has signed a pact between Yahoo and Twitter, allowing users of large Y!, See tweets in real time and access your account through the public feed available in each account. There will also be integration between Yahoo and Twitter to slightly higher levels, as other properties (Yahoo sites or services) will also contain the twitts users. This is nothing new, since Google and Microsoft with Bing (who also signed a deal with Yahoo) have already begun to show information from Twitter, although this has not been adequately implemented outside the United States. Competition is coming into a new niche where style networks or Google Twitter Buzz will play an important role.

This amendment made to the Yahoo services from start to be today, but is likely to take a little more for certain accounts. So far there have been no details about the availability of integration with Twitter, but hopefully soon, all users have this option enabled.

Approved the trade agreement between Microsoft and Yahoo

jeudi 18 février 2010

Doing a bit of memory, remember that Microsoft and Yahoo have signed a deal in which it was agreed that Bing, the form of the Redmond company, it would supply Yahoo search for a period of 10 years. In return, Yahoo would provide the infrastructure and logistics in the sales department, in addition to receiving 88% of the profits during the first 5 years.

This announcement was made public last December (2009) and although many took from that time as a fact, the truth is that trade regulatory commissions were debating the feasibility of such an agreement. Both bodies of the European Union and the United States extensively studied the implications of the alliance Microsoft - Yahoo.

Finally today gave its approval to the agreement, so the authorities have given their award for this union to operate formally. This means that Google will have a rival who is not very powerful but still has interesting things since there are contributions from two technology companies recognized. How successful will this union?, Nobody knows, but intense competition is expected to try to approach Google.

Although Bing has good things, especially in terms of user experience, Google is still king, and not just by name and being the monster he is, but by the quality results that are more relevant compared to other search engines . Whatever happens, it's good to know that Google will not always be the only dominant in the field of search.

Bing wins market share of U.S. search engines

vendredi 12 février 2010

Recent reports claim that Bing has gained market share in the U.S. according to data ComScore.

They target a market share of 11.3% in January, and a gain of 0.6 tenths of a percentage for the month of December. The difference in share between one month and another corresponds to what has been lost in the same time Google and Yahoo! respectively. Again, they are American-level data.

This is a small milestone for Microsoft, at least in a territory ruled by Google and to a lesser extent, Yahoo!. Looking at the data globally, things change, much. And is that aside from that Bing is good or bad, or like it more or less, you have a long way to be able to compete.

Microsoft will stop support for older games Xbox Live

vendredi 5 février 2010

Xbox Live is an important platform for Microsoft, as it represents strong gains in the gaming department of the company. Today it has become an important announcement affecting millions of players, as has officially decided to quit Xbox Live support for older games designed for the first Xbox, such as Halo 2.

Marc Whitten, Microsoft employee said in a post, that this movement has been carefully planned, understanding the consequences that will arise. In the interest of the development of the service, and optimization for the Xbox 360, it was decided that the platform for online play to stop working in the first version of the console, which came to compete with the PlayStation 2.

With this, the company based in Washington state, makes it clear that their services will focus on the latest products, perhaps anticipating what will happen with interesting concepts such as Project Natal, which is expected to arrive later this year. Microsoft should follow this course of action in other products and departments, such as Internet Explorer, which despite being old, still operational until now.

Office 2010: launch date !

jeudi 28 janvier 2010

The launch date has been set past few days for the new version of the following Software most known and used at the time, Microsoft Office in its new 2010 version.

They will appear the same with the new operating system and they will sell more than one version. It says that 6 is the number of different versions, compatible with the classic
XP, Windows Dress and of course Windows 7.

The versions are:
Office Starter, Home and Student, Home and Business, Professional, Professional Plus and a free version with Word and Excel.

Of course this latest version will be limited and will use it in a very reserved. A negative point for friends of Microsoft.

If you want to know a little more deeply about what it will be renewed after accessing the link at the end of the post.

Will it be more of the same? Will they continue to complicate further the work of the new user by changing the options as we knew already?

To my taste was the reason on which Office 2007 has not had the same effect as Office 2003. What do they think?

Microsoft possibly reached an agreement with Robert Murdoch

mercredi 27 janvier 2010

After the controversy generated by the owner of News Corp on the handling and dissemination of its content by Google, it apparently would negotiate with the Redmond company the possibility that they will pay him a certain amount of money by giving it in exchange the necessary authorization to index its contents.

In addition Microsoft is seeking to replicate this kind of trade agreement with other companies and major means of generating content, such as Bing makes sure to deliver information and exclusive content that no other researcher has .

This no doubt will generate a new faction and non-existent so far in research and provision of content, the point is that if it is profitable for Microsoft to pay on one side and the other for News Corp self be eliminated from the largest engine most used search now.

content, Google, Microsoft, News Corp.
