Spotify 0.4 - more social and many new features

vendredi 7 mai 2010

Spotify has been working hard for months to bring us a new version of the streaming music service known the world over and although the artists are complaining that the system of payment based on number of plays were not profitable, to not want to give Spotify and now becomes much more social.

Among the many features that we find, Spotify will have direct connection to
Facebook, where we add all our contacts and view their profiles on the right sidebar. Once you have "connected" to Spotify, every time you share music tracks will play on the news page. From now on we will also have more elsewhere, called "inbox" where your friends can send songs and playlists.

On the other hand, do not forget Spotify our mobile devices and now to synchronize our lists will not have to connect a USB cable, but we will sync via WiFi.

The playlists are editable and you will see who the user who added a track ("also know who the funny that has been erased?), In addition to knowing the popularity of each one of them, knowing at any time how many users have subscribed.

On the other hand, Spotify will give you the ability to import songs in local mode, synchronizing both our lists we have in the computer and in the cloud.

Also the visual side has been more careful, and when we are playing a list, the covers of the first nine songs will be represented as a mosaic.

Finally, Twitter has not been forgotten and to share songs at any time you like, now you have buttons to share both Facebook and on Twitter. Spotify Version 0.4 will automatically update throughout the week.

Facebook Launches 'credits' virtual money to buy social network

During the f8 conference held in San Francisco, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's CEO, explained the intention of the social network to impose a virtual currency across the network, as payment for all services of the largest social network in the world . His name is Facebook Credits.

This virtual currency, which is still in beta, would have its own exchange rate and would swing real against other currencies. Thus, Facebook wants the user does not have to enter your card details each time you make a payment.

Facebook has 400 million users and over 500,000 applications, some pay, on which stand virtual games, which generated $ 500 million, the second largest trader of
Paypal, Ebay behind, of course.

According to Zuckerberg, took longer to make efficient service and have invested heavily in the project, but certainly with 400 million potential users, many more companies joined the bandwagon of trade by Facebook. Furthermore I wonder what it would be strange to buy a movie ticket or a play, using the motto "official" network?

Facebook will open its information flow

jeudi 25 mars 2010

Surely you're fearing for your information and pictures on Facebook just read the statement if you have a profile, and maybe you'll have every reason to fear for your privacy, but not for the reason that Facebook will open its information flow, by this tranquil estate.

As Facebook announced they intend to give access to their information flow of public users, ie if you have privacy settings well done, in principle, you need not fear for your data.

Facebook's intention is none other than to offer this information to developers in the next F8 conference in April to invite them to write applications and connections to your network, using this data and offer them to users.

The very openness of information flow, Twitter made a while back with the data of its users and because she got some of their most important partners and, on the other hand, developers, books, programs of hundreds of applications that are available in the network to access Twitter today (and continuing to develop and publish from time to time).

For me personally, every time they speak of "distributed" user information privacy worries me most in my network, but Facebook has already promised a thousand times, actively and passively, never do anything that could harm the privacy of its users ... yet you trust the security of Facebook?.

Facebook accused of syphilis increased in a region of United Kingdom

What you need to hear and read, especially in these times. It appears that some "studies" locals have come to the conclusion that the role that Facebook has in the vast majority of infections is very important, we must add that young people in the Teeside region are among the more frequent the social network.

The conclusion we have reached is simply that with increased use of social networks have also increased the encounters, in which sexual highlights (high deductible).

Such stupidity I found this report in
Telegraph that it's like to accuse manufacturers of lighters increase the number of arsonists. The truth is that in this case, if young people have been affected most would have to start looking at their curricula and discuss the boys /-as there are ways of having safe and not be swayed by the rush of the moment .

Facebook removes applications to see who visits your profile

mardi 16 mars 2010

Facebook has blocked and deleted all the applications they said could know who was visiting your profile on social networking.

I've been searching for a while an application that referred to this but have not found it, when even a few days ago, continued to receive invitations to my profile applications such as "Who visits your profile?" Or "Who visited your profile yesterday?" that naive not to have read the privacy policy of this social network sent me.

But Facebook makes that very clear, in any form is impossible to know who is coming to look at your profile (wall, photos, videos, links, etc ...), although these applications were available (so far). This would not be possible since it would violate the privacy rights of other users.

These applications are prohibited, but try to GET its purpose, which is nothing to get all our data on the network without restrictions for privacy as follows: When you accept this access, you are giving access to the creator of the applications to all your data without restrictions, then finally discovered what pages visitors and profiles of other users what you see every day.

When the other user to start using this application, the creator of it they can send data on who visits your profile .... As long as those visitors also have transferred your data to this application.

In short: The more people use Google, additional data will have its creator private and nobody knows what to do with them.

No good for nothing more than accept the use of these applications because most have not come to work, or do not work perfectly if all your network does not use this application.

I hope that the blocking and deletion of these applications is for ever and that if some clever re-invent something similar to steal information to users faster than Facebook in blocks.

Facebook is the most visited site in United States

Facebook, the platform (which is no longer just a social network), has become a monster that just will not grow. According to recent data, this site has been placed as number 1 in terms of unique visitors per month, at least in the U.S.. Facebook has been estimated that 7.07% of the total views of all of America. This is 7 out of every 100 Americans visit Facebook, which is just awesome. And even more surprising to know that Facebook has overtaken Google as the most visited site. It's hard to get used to that more people are adding friends, writing on walls and playing, looking for something over the network. The search took second place with 7.03% of total visits in the North American country.

Subject to certain exceptions, as in Brazil or Japan, Facebook is the most popular social site in almost all countries, and with these statistics further confirms that it is a framework that does not stop growing and increasingly expanding their domain into other areas . Maybe Facebook's reign at the top last few months as they are cooking new services such as direct competition with 4square.

MySpace has renewed its website to compete with Facebook and Twitter

samedi 13 mars 2010

MySpace was a pioneer among social networks, but the competition was very strong and soon Facebook pages forward in fame, views and registered users, so now MySpace has raised redesign its website and review the operation of its entire platform to get to against these young competitors.

The co-presedente of MySpace, Mike Jones, has "confessed" that some workers have lost the strength to keep fighting to top the list of social networks, seeing the strength in their Facebook and Twitter, and now need new "fighters" and "believers" that they can cope and return to the leadership.

Because of this, News Corp, has suggested that these employees were not committed to the company to leave and have hired new and enthusiastic employees. Let what you say a renewal of personnel to get new air and ideas into the company.

Over the coming months, as declared by the president of MySpace, we will see gradual changes in the web that we will reach the new version.

In this new face of MySpace, is itself more to the music and all that are multimedia content as the company's goal is to get new users and bring back those who have gone and to
pass the 100 million user 300 ... (so now they have to run)

Earlier this year, MySpace had lost 7.4% of visitors compared to last year on the same days, so it's time to put the batteries and I hope to offer much more content and many more things to do within your network, because right now, all you can do on MySpace, also be done on Facebook and much more besides ...

MySpace Bets On Gaming to Help Revitalize Site

MySpace is a social network that still has significant amounts of traffic but that does not compare at all with other networks which are now leaders such as Facebook. Every day, MySpace is more into oblivion, and but for some bands are really only a few users who use this main social networking site. In part because of the bad design and the features so limited, MySpace is a site that is doing the limbo of the network.

Trying to imitate go to other networks, MySpace is planning to include games as a vital part of the site structure, and is that games are an attractive to users, you need not go very far Facebook has millions of users playing each day, and companies like Zynga are making good money. Now, MySpace wants to take a small piece of the pie. During the conference Game Developers Conference, which takes place in San Francisco, introduced a new portal focused on users who are familiar with Facebook. Showing some games (also in English version) seeks to attract new users, especially children and teenagers who like to spend hours playing.

By now you can view titles that aim to compete directly with their counterparts from Facebook: there are indeed huge advertisements promoting FarmTown (will anyone sounds like?), Which are games whose concept has been successful. There's even an iPhone application, called MySpace Neon, which allows quick access to this website from the gadget from Apple.

Perhaps this change will bring some buzz to MySpace, but opening our eyes, we can realize that other sites (including Hi5), we are ahead in terms of incorporating games. I dare not predict the outcome of this movement, but it will certainly be something to consider, especially in the next dels months.

Facebook add options for sharing your location

mercredi 10 mars 2010

When I read things as that, the hair stands on end and not because you're going to make a bad use, but because depending on what services we are speaking, there are children who use the functions that they should not.

But hey, leaving aside the opinion and based on the news, the NYT reports that for the month of April, Facebook, at a conference for developers to submit its final integration into the largest social network globally and is nothing more unless able to post / mostar the location from which you insert your information at any given time (something similar or equal to what we can do with Twitter).

It is also true, that will surely give us the option to enable / disable this option. Moreover, it will be given two options, one directly from Facebook, and another in the form of APIs for developers who want to create applications that work for the social network.

Anyway, I still to my guns, an After Sales with a market share of 400 million users, is jeopardizing the privacy depends on what people. But to read the user feedback, we still have to wait several more weeks, then has to speak again.

Facebook and Twitter up their use in mobile terminals

mardi 9 mars 2010

It was hoped that the numbers will shoot in the use of social networks and mobile terminals is that in order to have everything we want in real time, or we carry with us a computer or the sensible thing is to do it from a mobile, where there only allow us to enter text, but with customers as well photos currently available is standard.

But with the numbers on their hands and making a comparison between the months of January, 2009 and 2010, the most significant growth in the 2 most popular social networks, Facebook and Twitter, with the first an ever-growing engine of 112% and the second from desdeñabale nothing, 347%.

So we can conclude that Twitter will have little competition and leave both Google Buzz ousted as MySpace, instead of growing, has crumbled a bit more, if possible, obtaining a negative percentage of 7%.

Facebook now lets upload photos up to 720 pixels wide

vendredi 5 mars 2010

The maximum size to upload photos to Facebook has grown by 20%. If before we could only upload photos that were 640 pixels wide or smaller, now we can upload photos of up to 720 pixels.

The truth is that enlargement is not much, but the size that had so far was a thing of the past and have taken too long to expand the volume of users looking to move and the amount of pictures that are uploaded to Facebook daily, but " than nothing "does not say that?.

The pictures I uploaded so far, it will still see the old size of 640 pixels, and only increases from now on will be larger.

Facebook changes its policy of advertising: it now accepts PayPal

jeudi 18 février 2010

Facebook besides being the second most visited site in the U.S., has become more than a social network, since the integrated applications, events, media and above all, a lot of content to users, now is more a social platform, robust and interesting for many people around the world. Among people who use Facebook, there are the advertisers who take advantage of the insight that has Facebook to advertise certain products and / or services. However, one of the main problems was the method of payment, although not as complex for people living in the United States, aliens (small businesses / developers) that do not have large bank accounts were not an easy option to pay claims on their campaigns.

As a strategy to attract more advertisers, Facebook has announced it will soon add support for PayPal. Thus, any person, whether a casual user, a developer or a sales manager of a company may use this payment method known worldwide. It is certainly a breakthrough that facilitates the process of buying ads on the social platform.

This move is expected in the future, perhaps in the medium term, PayPal will be consolidated as the standard payment on Facebook. Whether to buy advertising space and buy items of applications (like games for example) and even non-virtual goods if they are offered such products. It seems a wise move that will give much to talk, especially about the prospects of integration represents.

Google Buzz and what it really means to users

jeudi 11 février 2010

No doubt the news of the day was the launch of Google Buzz, a service closer to social networks, which aims to form bridges between consumers, content sharing and closer to people. However, from my perspective, Google Buzz goes far beyond a single competitor, in a narrow sense, other services (eg Twitter or Facebook).

As has happened now for several years, with Google there is much research and deployment fund, so that products are light are really strong, talking about everything behind the scenes and this is no exception. Think of Google Buzz as the first step towards real communication platform tinged with social media.
In principle, Google Buzz adopted standard formats for content sharing with other services, because by using Atom, Activity Streams, MediaRSS or PubSubHubbub, ensures some form of interoperability, as now, thousands of sites use these standards to communicate. Thus, what happens in Buzz will go easily to sites like Facebook, or for example, to a site (call it blog, website or other variations) in the form of commentary, annotation or even as part of the editorial content.

This means that a large bridge is emerging, so that all online activities have a concurrency point. The advantages for us, end users are many, since for example we can share content without leaving our email accounts by automated processes, thus can save time and increase productivity.

Certainly a fascinating advantage is the ability to communicate with anyone outside of Google Buzz. Unlike Twitter, or Facebook, where users can only communicate with other users of the same community, communication Buzz goes further, because by using an e-mail instead of a username ( the time to make a reply), you can communicate with any * person, although not using Google Buzz.

At first glance the possibilities of use are exciting, especially if they are supplemented by the
availability of an API, which will facilitate the creation of modules that further enrich the user experience.

While this idea is not new (in fact many people suggests that Buzz is a copy of FriendFeed and Yahoo Buzz), to his credit, Google has taken the concept to a new level, and what better platform to exploit both logistics, as users, to position this service and offer it to the masses in a heartbeat.

Although no official dates have, we know that soon it will be active in Google Buzz Gmail accounts for users. Hopefully, this timeout is short, because at least to me, the idea seems very interesting, we'll see if the illusion does not go away really use this new service which has left many opinions on the net. Opinions?

PD: When visiting the site in English Buzz an option to begin testing the service in GMail, but the option is not yet active for all users.
