Layar Launches Its Augmented Reality Content Marketplace

samedi 8 mai 2010

Layar is an augmented reality application for iPhone and Android, they can view information at different sites with just pointing the camera of the mobile device. Thanks to applications like this, the development of augmented reality programs gained more attention and now we see more and more similar options that make extensive use of the benefits of certain mobile equipment (eg GPS, Internet access and camera.) Now it's time to take a new step for Layar, a startup based in Germany. It has long been able to access the Reality Browser where you could see different layers or layers of information, however this has become a mini market where you can buy supplements in the range of $ 1 to $ 4, although some allowances are maintained free.

Layar The policy states that for every sale developers will retain 60%, which leaves Layar with a good profit on each transaction. Other companies like Apple are left with only 30% of sales in the App Store so you have to see how well received this policy is for developers.

The method of payment is PayPal and now this market layer is only available in the U.S., UK, Canada and Australia.

Opera Mini is available in the AppStore - Apple authorizes

jeudi 22 avril 2010

We were pleasantly surprised by the news and why? it simply because Apple has the "big idea" out of the way all the competition in terms of software is concerned, especially when Apple already have or own native applications that perform the same.

That's why, that the adoption of Opera Mini for iPhone, iPod Touch and IPAD has been a great surprise. Remember,
Opera Mini compresses pages and allows you to navigate with your mobile much faster and with more moderate consumption data, which will be fine provided you have a data plan with some type of limit consumption.

Here's some screenshots we both like a video so you can check how it looks. By the way, in case you were wondering, is now available for download from the
AppStore and is free.

Apple is not interested in opening stores in Brazil and the rest of Latin America

In the words of Steve Jobs, Apple is not interested in opening physical stores in Brazil. A government official in that country, dared to send an email to Jobs asking whether among the plans of the company, was that of opening a physical store in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Steve Jobs said the mail with a categorical refusal.

In that mail, Jobs argues that taxes on imports of computer products, are too high, plus "many other technology companies share the same feeling." As we all know, Apple does not have physical stores in Mexico, Central and South America, because the governments of these countries apply high import tariffs and excessive products that are not considered "domestic".

That's why the company is not interested in investing in these countries. For now and for some time, Apple will continue to market its products through its online store each country, and through authorized dealers. He also said that the taxes so high "make investment unattractive in the country" (Brazil and hence on the rest of Latin America).

He continued by commenting that "Some manufacturers will lower retail prices for a certain country in a bid to avoid high rates for expensive goods" (sacrificing profits to pay less tax), but obviously Apple as a premium manufacturer prefers not to interfere if it is lower prices of their products. So, for now, Brazil, Mexico and the rest of Latin America will continue to live without an Apple Store.

Apple does not allow developing Kaspersky security suite for iPhone

lundi 15 mars 2010

Eugene Kasperksy, leading security company with the same name, says that long ago that Apple consistently blocked attempts to create a security suite for iPhone, so something has never seen the light in the App Store.

He explains that although contacts with Cupertino extend over 2 years, the company has never allowed to use the SDK to develop a security application. The very founder of Kaspersky says that the chances of a virus to infect an iPhone are practically nil, but also notes that the app I want to develop will focus on data security at each terminal.

Here again we would enter into the debate about whether Apple is following the right path when it is prohibited to use the SDK to develop very specific apps, though in this case perhaps how you would use the SDK attack Apple's policies while on the other hand, are allowed to create applications that are totally and absolutely absurd. The issue becomes more thorny when it comes to the theory that law is equal for all, we all know that this is not true, even remotely.

I personally believe that this is another example that Apple does not like to improve their products, because by extension mean that these are not entirely good.

TomTom GPS applications for iPhone will be updated in the coming days

samedi 6 mars 2010

TomTom has announced a few hours ago has sent Apple's version 1.3 of its GPS navigation applications for the iPhone. This new version added the functionality of traffic information in real time. Even is thought to also be added to Google's local search feature and some other still unknown.

During the first months of the
App Store, TomTom was the undisputed leader, but confirming the months passed and several companies released their navigation software in many cases even better than TomTom, the company has ceded its leadership for Navigon .

Currently, TomTom is in second place in the user preference, just back from Navigon. TomTom says that with this new update, Navigon and TomTom both have similar features, which will make TomTom sales rebound significantly.

Apparently the update will be free and the first maps to be updated will be the United States. Up progressively over the days, he expects the rest of the maps are updated to the newest version with the features described above. Only hope some day to see how it is that things unfold.

However, it is believed that certain characteristics may be recovered separately as a subscription, but neither Apple nor TomTom have spoken about it. As you mentioned, applications are currently being revised, so that at any moment, might appear in the App Store.

Apple is silent on the removal of over 5,000 applications for 'highly sexual content' from the AppStore

mercredi 24 février 2010

Just a few hours after Apple pulled a lot of applications from the AppStore to include content "potentially offensive" to its customers, the company has given its decision stating that "Every time we receive complaints from our customers about content same and also there are any objections, we review in depth ". This statement was made by Trudy Miller, an Apple representative.

He continued saying that "If we find that these applications contain inappropriate material, eliminated and asked the developer to make the changes necessary to allow the application to be distributed by Apple."

These statements relate to the disposal of an application from the AppStore, as the company received many complaints about the content "highly sexual" some applications that were available in the AppStore.

That's why Apple chose to change policies and regulations of the AppStore to avoid such "misunderstandings" with their customers and eventually eliminate a significant portion of applications from the AppStore. Although these have not entirely disappeared from the store ...

Video: Aerial View of the complex of servers that Apple builds in North Carolina

The video you see above these lines, supposedly is the complex of servers that Apple is building in the town of Maiden in the state of North Carolina in the United States. The rumor that once gave you to know, is finally taking shape.

As you can realize, is quite large, almost 46.500 meters square. So now we can assume that all our data, if we are customers of iTunes Music Store and the AppStore, most likely there will be stored exactly in the near future.

It's so large, covering almost 5 times the current complex of the company's servers, which is located in Newark, California. As was already said, this server complex will cost approximately $ 1,000 million dollars, because in the future will be one of the most important locations in Apple's strategy in regard to "Cloud Computing" .

It is wise to remember that Apple agreed to locate precisely this complex of servers in North Carolina, thanks to the state government offered a series of tax incentives that amount to more than $ 46 million dollars. Although everything is siiendo a rumor, it's likely that Apple uses it to support iTunes, AppStore and iBookstore.

Apple recently removed more than 5,000 applications from the AppStore

Apple has imposed more restrictions on the AppStore. For a couple of days, Apple has changed the policies of the AppStore and thanks to that change, a little over 5,000 applications have disappeared forever from the AppStore.

And is that from now can be seen as applications that Apple deemed potentially offensive to users of applications in the AppStore. I asked what those applications that Apple regards as potentially offensive:

• No photographs of women and / or scantily clad men
• Do not allow images suggestive
There will be no sexual connotations whatsoever
Nothing that can cause sexual excitement
No applications that may come to involve sexual content

All I can say about this is that each person is free to carry on your terminal type of content that you see fit and that, apparently, Apple has made it very clear that things are done or how they say, or rather not made. But on the other hand, we all know that there are alternatives to doing whatever we want with our terminal.

L'App Store atteint 13 pays

samedi 20 février 2010

A few hours ago Apple announced that there are another 13 new AppStore globally, among the countries that have joined the successful application store of the company are: Armenia, Botswana, Bulgaria, Jordan, Kenya, Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Niger, Senegal, Tunisia and Uganda.

Until now, there are few applications that people in these countries may find their respective AppSotres, since developers will have to update your preferences in iTunes Connect sales for its applications begin appearing in the AppStore above.

For they will have to choose "sell in new territories" (selling in the New Territories) for a few minutes later, begin to receive applications. A pretty good news for fans of iPhone and iPod touch in those countries, but especially for Apple every time it expands to store more profitable and popular applications in the world.
